Buying or Selling a Home During Hurricane Irma
September 6, 2017 | Amy Kilcoyne
As Hurricane Irma approaches there are thousands of anxious homeowners and soon to be homeowners waiting to find out how this storm will effect their pending home sales. As of yesterday, Sept 5th, mortgage lender have halted real estate appraisals
and issuing closing disclosures. Any closing involving a mortgage is on hold until the storm has past. In the event of the hurricane effects the Broward area homes will need to be re-inspected by a property appraiser before closings can resume.
Now is NOT the time to try and obtain insurance for your home. Insurance companies have stopped issuing policies.
The only thing we can do at this time is prepare ourselves, pets. and homes for the storm ahead.
Unless you have been living under a rock you have already started to obtain water, batteries, and gas. Lines are forming as Irma gets closer. Let's all try and remain calm and remember to be patient as we are all in this together.
In case you are without power and can't charge your cell phone here is an interesting video for making a charger with a 9 volt battery.
